Half link definition
Every chain has rollers which are connected by side plates or keepers . When counting the number of links in a length of chain , it is easiest to count the number of side plates on one side of the chain and multiplying the number by two. When a chain needs to be an odd number, a half link is included. The term "half link" is a misnomer. It should be called a single link. The side plate on a half link is not flat but has a step down shape.
