Free pedal play definition
The distance the clutch pedal can be depressed before it begins to disengage the clutch . Generally about 19-25 mm (0.5-1 inch) free pedal play is normal to be sure that slight resting of the foot on the pedal will not disengage the clutch . Without free pedal play, the throw-out bearings and the clutch might wear out.
