Expansion valve definition
A part of an air-conditioning system, located between the condenser and the evaporator , that regulates the flow of liquid refrigerant to the vaporator. If cooling needs are low, the valve is almost closed; as additional cooling is required, the valve opens wider so that more liquid refrigerant flows to the evaporator .
