Brake disc type definition

A braking system that instead of using the conventional brake drum with internal brake shoes , uses a steel disc with caliper type lining application, when the brakes are applied, a section of lining on each side of the spinning disc is forced against the disc thus imparting a braking force. This type of brake is very resistant to brake fade . Also see Disc brake .
