3. To remove the minor obstructions in the exhaust flow. A term sometimes coupled with porting , as in porting and polishing or "port and polish." This is generally a process of blueprinting a two-stroke engine so that the intake and exhaust ports are polished and have no obstructions in the flow of fuel-air mixture or exhaust gases . In this way the engine generally has more performance. A problem may arise when an individual ports and polishes too much.
